Week 28

Sprouting Hair

Your doctor visits will normally change from once a month to every other week at this point. Start writing down all of your questions or concerns so that you do not waste your time trying to remember everything on the spot. It is common to have a lot of concerns about what is soon to come, so you should not feel bad about taking time with your doctor to get your questions answered; just be efficient and prepared. It is a good idea to bring along the father so he can ask any of his lingering questions as well.

Have you already discussed your preferences for the birth? If you and your doctor have not decided the delivery plans, now is the time to make those decisions and let you doctor know.

Look at You Now:

If you tested RH Negative, then expect to receive the rhogram shot during a visit with your doctor soon.

You have likely gained well over 20 pounds at this point and may continue to feel less energetic and achier all over. This can bring about more mood swings and crankiness for some women, while others go to the very end like a bright ray of sunshine smiling and enjoying the pregnancy. Most women will fall toward the middle of this spectrum, so just know that you are normal no matter what your moods are like most of the time. It also has a lot to do with individual circumstances, so try to smile and make the most of whatever life brings in this last phase of pregnancy.

If you are experiencing a lot of swelling, cramping, or itching in the legs due to circulation issues, try massaging your legs or having someone else rub them for you.

No need to be worried if your breasts start to leak some as well. Your milk has not dropped yet; this is the colostrum that will first nourish your baby upon birth. There are pads that fit into your bra to help absorb the leakage if needed.

Look at Baby Now:

Most babies are around 2.5 pounds at this time. Considering most babies are born at 7 pounds or more, there is still a lot of weight to be gained in the short period of time remaining! Your baby will pick up fat fast as it heads toward delivery.

There is a lot of sprouting going on in the womb about this time as eyelashes grow out and hair may start to grow, unless you are destined to deliver a gorgeous baldy!
