"yeah I am new too. I am excited and scared and all kinds of things I think. I feel okay been not feeling to great since the doc took me off of sugar because I cannot keep my sugar up. The blood test she did was done not even a half hour 45 minutes after I ate and I had drank some pepsi too, the result 123, well I listened and stopped all sugar, but now i feel like crap about 90 percent of the time lol .. I have been taking my sugar at home so she can see there is not a problem and maybe let me have alittle bit of the good stuff lol. I do not want to feel this way my whole pregnancy. :) anyway how are you"

Hey, thanks for getting back to me.Wink  I was hoping you would.  Pregnancy can be so exciting and scary too, especially when you are not feeling well.  Keeping good blood sugar levels was so important for me during pregnancy too.  and the only way for me to do that was to make sure that I was eating meat nearly every day, meat and eggs too, anything that was animal protein.  In fact, I craved eggs and hamburgers.  building a baby takes alot of protein!  I also ate junk (craved it), but balanced it with healthy, whole foods.  How far along are you now?  Are you working also?  I am well, happy to be part of this forum where I can encourage other mommies along the way.

I am almost 14 weeks now but I can not have any junk :( I never really ate cake or cookies or pie my only guilty pleasures were a hershey bar every once in awhile and dairy cream ice cream. I think the doc is going to have to let me have alittle sugar or I am going to be a cow lol in order to keep them up at all I have to eat about 5, 6 or 7 times a day just to keep it above 70 or so. I am hoping i start to feel better soon and I think once I explain everything to the doc she migth be okay with a little sugar. It is exciting but I think right now I am more scared then anything, I have bad anxiety attacks sometimes, although in recent years I have gotten it more under control then in years past so I am working through some of that too. do you know what good sugar levels while you are pregnant are? I have been trying to find out but have been unable too.

Also sorry it took me so long to respond I did not know this was in the forums or I would have responded sooner.

Hi tears.  I am new at this too, and wasn't sure how to contact you...glad you found my response.  I cannot say what normal blood sugar levels during pregnancy should be.  You should call and ask your dr. or your dr.s nurse, as your doc should know where she wants you blood sugars to stay.  I do know that high blood sugar during pregnancy can be very serious and cause problems for both you and baby, so it isn't something to mess with.

As someone who has struggled with sugar addiction, I will recommend that you really try to do a few things to help you with sugar cravings.  first, do eat every three hours, and always have a bit of protein, a bit of complex carbs and a bit of fat.  for example, cheese and crackers with an apple; a peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat bread with a banana or some carrots....try to think in terms of eating things that are really food, not things that have been created in some factory and sold as food.  Good nutrition will make you baby grow strong, and also keep you feeling well during pregnancy.  second, make sure that you are drinking plenty of water.  Water will help you to feel full and plenty of water will help to keep you healthy during this special time.  I have tons of nutritional know how, but don't want to overwhelm you.  Feel free to ask specific questions and I can make suggestions.  When you are craving candy, have some fruit instead---or some nuts. And drink a big glass of water, too.  Your body is growing a baby and needs good food to do it.

I was sad to read of your situation with your baby's father.  Sadly we aren't able to change others.  One of the best things that you can do is to take good care of yourself and keep yourself connected to people that will be an encouragement to you during this time.  As one who has struggled with depression myself, I know that, again, plenty of good protein and other whole foods will help you to stay positive.  Protein works in the brain to keep us level headed.  Ok, gotta run, but stay in touch and hang in there.....Wink
