 Of my 4

My first was 12 hours of which I spent most of my time at home thinking I was in false labor.lol.

My second was about an hour.

My third was 6 hours

My fourth was just over 2 hours

Oddly enough, my shortest labor was the one I liked the least and I think I liked the longest one best.   Strange.

With my daughter I went into labor on a Monday at noon, on Saturday at 5:45 I had a c-section. I was in non-stop labor the whole time. Thankfully the contractions would slow down to 30 minutes apart between 5am and 10am so I could get 15 minutes of sleep between them. It was a long hard labor.

We were out of town (in a different state than my doctor) when I went into labor, and the first hospital I went to sent me home and told me I wasn't having a baby even though my water had broke.  (BAD hospital!!) Saturday I went to another hospital, and found out that my daughter was under stress and wasn't making any progress and had passed her first BM. It was a bad situation all around. She ended up spending 10 days in NICU because of an infection, and I was in the hospital 6 days for the same reasons. But thankfully she got to come home, and has had no side effects at all from it to date.

My first labor took forever! It was induced, and nobody noticed that the needle connecting the pitosin to the IV had fallen out. This had gone on all day without much progress, but once the pitosin was reconnected it only took about an hour and a half. My second labor lasted about 8 hours. My last labor lasted just under an hour.

My birth was exactly 3 and 1/2 half hours from start till baby was on my chest. Very quick labor and pushing stage. Like the Author of this thread said, I think I'd take a long labor anyday over a quick one. The quick one is just way more painful, or at least it was for me. I didn't use any drugs so I had no escape!

Hmm... that's a good point.  I was hoping for a short labor but didn't think about the pain maybe being worse.  My labor was 13 hours.  Definitely not the longest labor ever, but it was pretty long for me Smile.  I had enough time for the drugs but I didn't take them until after seven hours.  I was originally trying to do the natural thing, but the pain just got to be more than I'd expected.  So, if my labor had only been seven hours long, then maybe I would have been able to make it Laughing.

With my first son, labor took forever. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't unbearably painful (contractions always rather far apart) but it took several days of mid-level contractions about 8 minutes apart and towards the end I was just so exhausted!! I had barely slept for two nights. In the end they had to give me an epidural and meds to increase the contractions and the whole thing was a mess.

With boy two, the contractions came much faster and it was MUCH more painful. It did go a lot faster (about 9 hours) but still took too long to get through without pain killer (especially as I didn't know how much longer it would take). I guess my choice would be for either a fast birth (less than 6 hours) at the intensity level of my second child's birth or a longer (though not more than 20 hours) one as painful as my first time.

Basically, given the intensity level of the pain, both of my births were too slow.

Since my little girl was breech, I never actually went into labor.  Although when I went in to have my C-section they said that I was having contractions 5 minutes apart, they just weren't bothering me.  Ironically enough I was probably a great candidate for a natural birth (what I originally wanted).  But she got here safe and sound so that 's all that mattered!  I'm not sure how long everything took, not long at all.

16 hours with my daughter, and then 11 months later when I had my son it took about 20 hours. I had an epidural with both, but with my son the cathider kinked in my back and stopped working so I got to expierence a natural delivery. They also told me my water had broke because I couldn't tell since I was numb... turns out it hadn't, and when I started to push it broke all over the nurses and the Dr. It even got in the Dr's pocket lol

Mine was faster than I expected. Both babies were out (C-section) within a minute of each other, and the complete procedure took about half an hour. ;)
